Temperature Dependence of the Chiral Condensate from an Interacting Pion Gas

چکیده

By exploiting the fact that the chiral condensate is related to the derivative of the free-energy density with respect to the bare quark mass we calculate the temperature dependence of the condensate ratio 〈q̄q〉T /〈q̄q〉0 from an iteracting pion gas. When using the Weinberg Lagrangian at the Hartree level we find a depression of the condensate with temperature. For T < 100 MeV the results are in good agreement with chiral perturbation theory in the three loop approximation. Near Tc, however, there are marked differences due to non-perturbative nature of our approach. Thermodynamics of the pion gas using the O(N) model in 1/N expansion

We investigate the thermodynamics of a pion gas within the O(N) model in the 1/N expansion. Using the auxiliary field technique, we compute the effective potential up to the next-to-leading order (NLO) and show that it can be renormalized in a temperature-independent manner. The crucial step for the consistency of the calculation turns out to be the elimination of the auxiliary field prior to r...

Determination of the temperature dependence of the up- down-quark mass in QCD

The temperature dependence of the sum of the QCD upand down-quark masses, (mu +md) and the pion decay constant, fπ , are determined from two thermal finite energy QCD sum rules for the pseudoscalar-current correlator. This quark-mass remains mostly constant for temperatures well below the critical temperature for deconfinement/chiral-symmetry restoration. As this critical temperature is approac...

Deconfinement and Hot Hadrons in Crays and Quadrics

The equation of state of pure QCD, obtained from lattice QCD, is discussed for temperatures ranging from 0.9Tc to 4Tc, as well as results on screening masses, the chiral condensate, and the pion decay constant close to the deconfinement phase transition in the confined phase of QCD. The equation of state differs significantly from that of a free gas. There is little evidence of a temperature de...

Chiral symmetry and the pion gas virial expansion∗

In this work we study the thermodynamic properties of the pion gas starting from the realistic elastic scattering phase-shifts obtained from Chiral Perturbation Theory and using the virial expansion. In particular we study the state equation and the behavior of the quark condensate as a function of the temperature and the density. Bulk viscosity and the conformal anomaly in the pion gas.

We calculate the bulk viscosity of the massive pion gas within unitarized chiral perturbation theory. We obtain a low-temperature peak arising from explicit conformal breaking due to the pion mass and another peak near the critical temperature, dominated by the conformal anomaly through gluon condensate terms. The correlation between bulk viscosity and conformal breaking supports a recent QCD p...
